Library Summer Program Has Something for Everyone

“A Universe of Stories” is the title of the Summer Reading Program at the Red River Parish Library. Children’s Librarian Kala Sims has created an educational and entertaining series of programs to give kids constructive things to do this summer.

Underlying it all is the reading.  Children of all ages are encouraged to read all summer long.  And parents are encouraged to read to their children. Registration is now open for children 2 to 17.  Parents may bring them to register and get a reading record to keep up with books read this summer.  There are differing required reading for each age group.

There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the summer programs.  Prizes will be awarded to children completing reading requirements and also attending at least two of the summer activities.

Speaking of activities, on Monday, June 10thstoryteller Sylvia Davis will be at the library at 2:00 pm.  Davis has entertained children with her stories for the past several summers. She has a group of new tales to tell come Monday.

On Thursdays there will be games or crafts at the Library.  Activities begin at 2:00 pm.  Parents are encouraged to bring their children and join in the fun.
