The Red River Parish Police Jury is sending the Registrar of Voters to School. Actually they are providing a nearly two year program of continuing education to improve the service the office gives to the parish.
Registrar Debra Jones asked the jury to fund her trip to Milwaukee in July for the first five courses. Jones said, “There are twelve continuing education courses with the first five offered this summer. This will improve my skills and knowledge in voter registration. This continuing education program is supported by the Secretary of State.”
Jones presented an itemized budget for the summer. Total was about $4,100 which covers the courses, hotel accommodations and air fare. The police jury voted to allocate the money.
Next summer Jones will attend five more courses in the series. She will complete two other courses between now and then, for a total of twelve courses.
