Coushatta’s Jacob Shaver is among students of Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology who were presented academic and leadership awards to conclude the Spring 2018 semester.
Luz Arrieta-Jiminez of Natchitoches and Cassandra Osborne of Anacoco were recognized with Highest GPA Awards.
Jacob Shaver of Coushatta and Linda Strauss of Leesville were recognized with Scholarship, Leadership and Integrity Awards.
The awards were established to help Engineering Technology students cultivate the skills necessary for effective leadership in the field. “Good leaders can inspire their teams through excellent instruction and support, enabling everyone to do their best work,” said ET Department Head Jafar Al-Sharab.
The awards were presented to one student from Electrical Engineering Technology (electronics or biomedical) and one from Industrial Engineering Technology. To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better, demonstrate outstanding leadership skills and be enrolled in the Senior Design Project class.
