Book Sale a Success

RRPJ-Book Sale-18May11

Last week the Red River Parish Library conducted their annual book sale. Many people purchased big boxes of books for only a dollar.

Children’s Librarian Kala Sims was manning the table when The Journal dropped by the sale. Sims said, “The sale is going well. We have sold many boxes full of books. There was a very large pile of empty boxes by the door when we started the sale. Now the pile is almost gone.”

Matthew Shaffer said he was looking for science fiction. Rebecca Shaffer was picking up books for children to use in her work. And Mary Washington said she was looking for spiritual, gospel, and inspirational works.

A quick look around the room on the third day of the sale validated Sims’ assessment. Earlier Librarian Trey Lewis said, “We had a big rush the first day. People came to get first look at the best selection.”

The annual Library Book Sale was held May 3rd through 5th. The books offered or sale came from donations of books by the public and books the library no longer needs for their shelves. Money raised by the sale will go to purchasing more books for the library.
