Children’s Miracle Network Grant to Christus Coushatta

May is for miracles at CHRISTUS Coushatta Health Care Center thanks to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and nearly $110,000 in grant funding awarded to support facilities and departments providing pediatric-focused care. Donations raised through CMN Hospitals partners locally make the grants possible.

CHRISTUS recently brought together corporate partners of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to help award the 2022 grants to the health system including Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club, Panda Express, RE/MAX Real Estate Services, Valvoline, Dairy Queen, Love’s Travel Stops, CEFCO and Take 5 Oil Change.  These entities and others host fundraising campaigns throughout the year to support local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals programs.

CHRISTUS Coushatta Health Care Center has been awarded funding to provide new equipment and technology for the Dental Clinic, Clinic Education department, Emergency Department, and Medical/Surgical unit. The CHRISTUS Coushatta Dental Clinic was awarded the 2nd largest grant at more than $70,000 for new panoramic dental x-ray equipment and a new autoclave sterilizer machine.

“We continue to be overwhelmed with the support provided throughout CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Being a rural community, these CMN dollars that were granted really allows us to offer the most state-of-the-art and better care for our patients; especially in our dental clinic and the emergency room where we see the majority of our pediatric patients. It allows us to offer services to them in their home community so there is no need to travel somewhere else,” said Brandon Hillman, Administrator, CHRISTUS Coushatta Health Care Center.

Grant awards include $6,900 for new overhead procedure lights and thermometers for the emergency department, $20,000 for new Bovie and Bladder Scanner tools for the medical and surgical unit, and $11,000 will purchase new Lifepak 15 defibrillators for the Clinic Education team.

“This year nearly $330,000 supports new equipment and programs. It was raised locally, one dollar at a time,” said Kelley Matkins, Program Director of Children’s Miracle Network Hospital Programs, CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System. “It is so exciting for our partners to see how their campaign efforts support children at CHRISTUS.”

Supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals programs and services locally is easy and makes a tremendous impact in the lives of thousands of children in Northwest Louisiana and East Texas. Donations can be made during CMN Hospital campaigns at participating corporate partners or any time through the CHRISTUS Foundation- Shreveport-Bossier website:
