First Snow Storm of the Winter

Red River received 3” to 4” of snowfall this past weekend, according to the National Weather Service.  And this morning there are still patches on the ground that have not melted thanks to low daytime temperatures.

There were traffic interruptions early Monday morning due to downed trees and power lines.  The heavy wet snow weighted down trees and bushes leaving many people with limbs and debris to clear from yards.

Power was out to some areas in the parish.  SWEPCO released a statement saying all power would be restored by last night.

One lady the Journal spoke with Monday morning termed it “beautiful, absolutely beautiful.”  The children enjoyed it and many built a snowman.

The Journal will have additional photos of “snow activities” in the Friday issue.
