Red River baseball dominant in three wins
The Red River baseball team appears to be finding its midseason stride as the Bulldogs were dominant in its last three wins.
Red River (9-4) handled Zwolle (14-4 score), Doyline (11-1) and Calvin (20-1) in wins this past week.
Zwolle and Doyline wins came Saturday in the Converse Tournament while the Bulldogs won their third straight game away from home at Calvin on Tuesday.
Red River fires up District 3-2A today with a home doubleheader against Mansfield. Mansfield is still looking for its first win and has scored just one run in six games.
The addition of Lakeside deepens a district that includes Many and Winnfield as potential title threats, but Red River and Lakeside are the favorites at this point.
The Bulldogs are right inside the first-round home playoff picture in Division III at No. 15.
Riverdale baseball takes another swing at Bradley
Riverdale baseball is still looking for its first win, but they’ll see a Bradley team in which the Rebels had their best offensive outing of the season.
Riverdale (0-9) fell in a 16-11 decision to Bradley on the road, and the Rebels will attempt to log their first win of the season when Bradley visits East Point today at 4 p.m.
Red River softball poised for bounce back next week
Wins, and runs, were stacking up in Red River’s 6-1 start, but the Lady Bulldogs hit a tougher part of the schedule in the past two weeks.
Red River has dropped three of its last four games, including district losses to powers Lakeside and Winnfield.
The Lady Bulldogs (7-4) are still in good playoff shape at No. 11, which would reward Red River with a first-round playoff game.
Red River is favored in both games this week, at Mansfield on Tuesday and at home against Plain Dealing on Thursday, a team they beat 15-0 this past week.
