On Friday, January 27, the Riverdale Rebels and Lady Rebels traveled to Farmerville to take on Union Christian Academy. In the first game of the evening, the JV Rebels defeated UCA 49-28. Tanner Carlisle had a huge night with a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds. He also led the team in deflections with 5. Ashton Almond was also in double figures with 13 points. He also had 5 rebounds and led the team in assists with 6. Zane Givens had 6 points and 3 deflections, and Colin Bates pulled down 6 rebounds. Cannon Breedlove rounded out the scoring with 2 points and had 4 deflections.
In the second game, the Lady Rebels defeated UCA 65-27. Makayla Pickett had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Hanna Catherine Huddleston added 13 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Mary Claire Jones had also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 steals. She also had 5 deflections and 4 assists. Jessie Kate Cobb had 8 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, and Madison Chamberlin had 8 points, 8 deflections, and 9 rebounds. Jadyn King added 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 deflections. Georgia Carlisle and Emily Nettles had 2 points each.
In the last game, UCA defeated Riverdale 77-52. Jace Wilhite led the team in scoring with 13 points and had 6 deflections. Mason Murray had 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 deflections. Kyle Guillory had 10 points and 4 deflections, while Thad Bates had 8 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 deflections. Ryder Huddleston pulled down 13 rebounds and had 6 points and 6 deflections. Ben Almond had 3 points and led the team in assists with 7.
The Rebels and Lady Rebels have a busy week with three home games. The JV and Varsity girls take on Central on Tuesday. On Thursday, Briarfield comes to East Point with the first game beginning at 4:00. Then on Friday, Northeast Baptist School will come to town with the first game also starting at 4:00. Come out and support your Lady Rebels and Rebels.
