The Riverdale Academy golf team won back-to-back state championships as they successfully defended their 2021 state title. On Thursday, April 28, the team traveled to Homer, LA, to the state championship tournament hosted by Claiborne Academy. They played some of their best golf of the season to capture the state title. Prentiss Christian Academy is state runner-up.
Senior Reagan Huddleston, who was playing in his final high school golf tournament, showed up ready to play. Not only did he bring home another state championship, but he was also the individual low medal winner with a score of 70, which was 2 under par for the course. B. Jones from West Memphis Christian School took second place with a score of 73. Reagan’s younger brother, sophomore Ryder Huddleston and junior Mason Murray tied for 3rd place individual low medalist with a score of 84. I caught up with Reagan to get his thoughts on his final high school tournament. He said, “It felt good to get the job done after a long year’s work, and the win was extra special since it is my senior year.”
Other golf team members who helped bring home the championship were senior Ty Jones, junior Thad Bates, and 6thgrader Jackson Hillman. The team is coached by former Riverdale golfer and current head coach Ty Hester. Congratulations to Coach Ty and the golf team on a wonderful season! The Rebel family is proud of you all!
