Red River Takes Lead in Bottom of the Third

By Autumn McCoy

Red River Lady Bulldogs took until the bottom of the third inning before they started scoring Monday night against Pleasant Hill at home. Pleasant Hill had come ready to win, but the Bulldogs defense would keep them from scoring more than one run in the first and second innings.

Bryn Danzy #4 was on the mound after suffering from an ankle injury for more than a week. She was excited to be back on the field to lead her team, but she struggled to find the strike zone through much of the first two innings.

When the third inning started, the ladies on both sides were more determined to win. The Bulldogs defense would allow two runs, before they got the third out. When they picked up their bats this time though… the Lady Bulldogs scored eight runs!

The fourth inning was much the same with Pleasant Hill scoring another two, but Red River scored a whopping 13 runs! They stole a total of 11 bases throughout the game. After trailing for two and a half innings, the Bulldogs won the game 21-6.

Red River Lady Bulldogs will play again Friday night at home at 4:00pm against Green Oaks. This will be Senior Night. Come out and celebrate our Seniors, Gracie Baker #9, Gracie Lindsey #12, and Tess Zegel #17!
