Bulldog Baseball Update

The RR Bulldogs were finally able to hit the field and start the season Monday Feb. 28th. The rain and cold weather put a stop to several scheduled games and the Robin Round. The JV started the season against Castor with a 5-3 win. These young guys were eager and ready to play the local rival. They got the crowd ready and fired up for the Varsity. The varsity did not fail to perform. They beat Castor 11-1 with John Dickey and Pierce Kellogg pitching a collective no hitter. John Dickey was 2-2 and 2 RBI, Eli Harper was 2-3, 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Coach Reed had this to say about the game, “My first year here Castor beat us 12-0. Since then we are 3-0 against them and have outscored them 37-1 in those three games.”

Wednesday the teams traveled to Shreveport to take on 5A Southwood Cowboys. JV started the night off with a win for the Bulldogs 4-3. Some Highlights of the game: Ethan Williamson started and finished the night as pitcher, Peyton Miller made a great outfield catch, first baseman Luke Williamson grabbed several outs, and Rafe Suggs had a great catch on a fly ball. Keep it up JV Bulldogs.

Not to be out done, the varsity came up next to put a whipping on the Cowboys with a 16-0 win! “This was a huge win for our program. First win over a 5A opponent in school history.” (Coach Reed) Highlights Tyler Hughes with win (1-0) 4 innings pitched 9 strikeouts, Chris Carper 2-4 4RBI, 2B, 3B and Pierce Kellogg 2-3 2RBI.

Thursday the Bulldogs took on 4A Woodlawn Leadership Academy Knights at RRHS. Senior Ryder Hogan pitched a shutout game with 36 pitches and 5 strike outs. Red River scored 11 runs in the 1st inning and 17 in the 2nd. Final score was 28-0. This moves the season record to 3-0!!! Keep it up Bulldogs.
