Coushatta Weather

Areas all around the parish are preparing for freezing conditions and road closures.  Drive carefully if you must get out.  As of Thursday evening, I-49 from Bert Kouns north into Arkansas is closed.  Roads and bridges to our north may possibly see some freezing and black ice.  It appears Red River will see cold temperatures Friday morning, however we may escape the ice and freezing roads.

From the National Weather Service Shreveport office, here is our local forecast through Saturday:

Friday – Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. North wind around 10 mph.

Friday Night – Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 23. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday – Sunny, with a high near 47. North wind around 5 mph.

The map below shows the latest ice accumulation forecast for the ArkLaTex. Roads may become slick by Thursday evening.  Locations expecting a quarter of an inch or more could see downed limbs and power outages.

From the map and the local forecast for Coushatta it appears that Red River Parish will escape the ice and freezing rain to our north and west.
