Blood Supply Very Low

LifeShare is holding blood drives frequently in our parish and across northwest Louisiana.  This is due to the supply of all types of blood being at a very low level heading into summer.

On Thursday afternoon, the LifeShare bus was at Rivertown Market in Coushatta.  The store posted on social media, “This blood drive is very special to us !!! We will be doing this in honor of Ronnie Quick.”

LifeShare will be in the parish Tuesday and Thursday evenings next week.  On June 8th they will be at Woman Church.  On Thursday they will be at Man Church.  Both events will be held at The Shop on La 507 north of Martin.

There will be a blood drive for school students, faculty, and staff the following week.  LifeShare representative Philip Maxfield told The Journal, “We do request that parents encourage their students to donate so they can earn honor cord credits and up the amount of the school’s grant funds from LifeShare Blood Center.”

You may recall that JROTC Commander Col. Duffield and Maxfield received a dousing of ice water a couple of months ago as the result of the drive at that time going over their goal.  The record is 33 units of blood collected at a Red River High drive.  If the record is broken June 17th, Principal JC Dickey will get wet as well.

Anyone wishing to donate can sign up online.  Full details on the LifeShare social media pages.
