
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel, Coushatta, LA. Service will be officiated by Bro. Rick McDonald. Burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Family and friends invited to fellowship afterwards at Abundant Life.
Billy Joe was born in Hall Summit to Woodrow and Agnes Gay on October 13, 1937. He graduated from Hall Summit High School. He married his soulmate on February 1, 1963 in Hall Summit. Billy Joe worked for Roy Nolan for numerous years. He also served in law enforcement for 25 years. He loved spending time with his family, going to church, watching football, and listening to old hymnals and Elvis Presley. He loved to raise his garden and work in his yard. His favorite though was his afternoon naps with Bear. He was a loving husband and a devoted father.
Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Agnes Gay and also his sister, Diane Alexandar.
Billy Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Betty Gay; two sons, Charles Gay of Castor, Donnie Gay and wife Melanie of Castor; sister Nelda Sanders and husband Gene of Alexandria; brother Alvis Gay and wife Janice of Haughton; granddaughter Brittany Tyler; grandson Shane Gay, and granddaughter Caitlyn Gay and a host of great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Donald Sanders, Josh Speed, Pete Bradford, Kevin Gay, Shane Gay, and Jessie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Doctors Carter, Coleman, and Chico.
