In prior years a Back to School Bash was held to distribute backpacks loaded with school supplies to every student. Because of the COVID-19 virus the event will not take the same form as in earlier years.
Red River School Superintendent Alison Hughes notified parents, “Distribution will be through the schools.” Hughes said, “United Way of NWLA has worked diligently with Red River Parish Schools to do the very best we can do in these trying times. But because of our employee campaign, some money that was collected before the virus hit, and support from the United Way and the Bank of Coushatta, we will be able to provide a backpack for every student.”
Hughes said, “We are making every effort to be sure that we get what is needed to the students. It will just be in a different manner.”
