Each month during the school year local schools select their students of the month.  The Coushatta VFW Post and Auxiliary present each student a certificate and gift card to Dairy Queen.

March students selected by Riverdale Academy are Hayden Cason, Makayla Pickett and Matthew Seales. Here are their nomination statements:

Elementary – Hayden Cason, 3rd Grade – Hayden is the son of Dan and Amanda Cason.  His favorite subject is math, and he is on the “A” honor roll.  He recently participated in the Overall Reading Fair in Jackson, MS.  He loves playing baseball in his free time.

Middle School – Makayla Pickett, 5th Grade – Makayla is the daughter of Jeremy and Jennifer Pickett.  She is on the honor roll, and social studies is her favorite subject.  Makayla recently competed in the Overall Reading Fair in Jackson, MS.  Makayla enjoys playing basketball and is active in her church.  She also has an amazing singing voice.

High School – Matthew Seales, 10th Grade – Matthew is the son of James and Bethany Seales.  He maintains the “A” honor roll and has begun dual enrollment classes at NSU.  He recently competed in the Overall Reading Fair in Jackson, MS, where his project won 1st place in non-fiction.  Matthew also qualified for State Literary Rally in geometry.  In his spare time, Matthew enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing baseball.
