There is lots going on Saturday and Sunday at Cowboy Church’s arena. A Ranch Sorting is scheduled tomorrow and the Playday Series will be held Sunday.
Jerry Sally put out a flyer for the Ranch Sorting. The books will open at 9:00 am and the event will begin at 10:00.
There will be a beginner’s class for those who have never sorted before. Entry fee is $5.00 for beginners. There will be a Drawpot for $10 entry fee and Open sorting for a $15 fee. There is no limit on the number of entries however there will be a one time cattle charge of $15.
On Sunday afternoon the Playday Series begins. There are five shows in the series and their flyer says a person must make three of the five shows to be eligible for awards, which will be given out following the last show. Series playdays in addition to Sunday are November 18th, December 16th, January 20th, and February 17th.
The horse events include Barrels, Speed Race and Poles. Non-horse events are a Stick-Horse Race and a Goat Ribbon Pull. There are two categories of each, one for kids up to three years old and a second for four to six year olds.
Family memberships are being encouraged if you want to be eligible for awards. Those are $25 per person or $40 per family. Otherwise the entry fee is $5 per person per event.
Everything begins when the books open at 1:00 pm Sunday. Red River Cowboy Church is located on Highway 1 south of Armistead at La 174 in the Lake End community.
