Coushatta native and former NFL standout Bennie Logan has been named the inaugural Grand Marshal of the Krewe of the 9 Parade, set to roll through Natchitoches.
The parade, coming to historic downtown Natchitoches, will celebrate Mardi Gras with a strong Louisiana connection by honoring Logan—an LSU icon who wore the Tigers’ revered No. 18 jersey and went on to a successful NFL career. Organizers say Logan was chosen not only for his accomplishments on the field, but for the pride he brings to his hometown and the example he sets for young athletes across the region.
Logan’s football journey began in Red River Parish before he became a force on the defensive line at LSU. He later spent several seasons in the NFL, earning respect for his work ethic and leadership. Those qualities, parade organizers say, make him a fitting choice to lead the Krewe of the 9’s first-ever parade.
The Krewe of the 9 Parade is open to the public with no cost to enter, welcoming floats, walking groups, and community organizations. Lineup will begin at 10:30 a.m., with parade roll set for noon on Saturday, January 31, staging near the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse parking lot.
Organizers expect a festive crowd and say Logan’s selection as Grand Marshal adds a special hometown connection to the celebration. For many in Red River Parish and surrounding communities, seeing a local success story lead the parade is a point of pride.
With beads ready and a Louisiana legend at the helm, the Krewe of the 9 Parade promises to bring excitement, tradition, and community spirit to downtown Natchitoches.
