When I took the LSU Women’s Basketball job nearly four years ago, I said I wanted to be a positive for the state of Louisiana. I spent 19 years of my life in Lincoln Parish while I was at Louisiana Tech and I spent 18 years of my life growing up in Tangipahoa Parish. In my short time at LSU we have been able to play many schools from the state of Louisiana.
It was an honor to be able to bring our team to Bossier City to play Grambling as we were able to celebrate Mikaylah Williams in her hometown and in the same arena where she graduated from Parkway High School. She left her impact on that city and is a positive role model that young boys and girls from Bossier City can look up to. She is a hard worker that wants to do good and her platform as a basketball player allows her to give back to the community. Her story shows that you can achieve great things all while staying home in Louisiana.
There is something so special about being able to play basketball in front of the people that watched you grow up. That is what Mikaylah was able to experience on Sunday. I would like to thank everyone who had a part in helping put the game on and who came out to see the game at Brookshire Grocery Arena. It all made for a special homecoming environment for Mikaylah as she was able to see so many people she holds close to her heart.
Sincerely,
Kim Mulkey
