One of the largest loads to ever come through Red River Parish arrived Tuesday. Parish Road Enforcement Officer, Harold Woodard called it a Super Load weighing 595,000 pounds. That is 297.5 tons.
The load came into the parish on US 371 from I-49. It traveled to Armistead where it made a wide left turn onto LA 1. From there it traveled north to Yearwood Road. Then on Yearwood Road it went to a natural gas processing facility that is under construction.
Woodard directed traffic at Armistead as the load approached. He joined Louisiana State Police, Sheriff’s Deputies and the escort company to escort the load to its destination.
Woodard described the load as a vessel on a trailer 221 feet long and 18 feet wide. It had 20 axels and 124 tires. There was a big rig pulling and another pushing at the rear. The rig originated at Odessa, Texas.
