Local School Board Adopts Governor’s Mandate on Masks

Governor Edwards announced on May 25 the decision that lifted the mandatory state requirement for students to wear masks in the classroom and at school events. He indicated that each individual school system may now decide if the mask mandate would remain in place for their schools. Based on that announcement, the Red River Parish School Board has decided the following:

  • The RRSB will not mandate that any student or employee must wear a mask beginning June 1, 2021.
  • This decision covers classrooms, school buses, and indoor and outdoor events.
  • Individuals may choose to wear a mask for health reasons in any of our school settings.
  • The school system reserves the right to enforce a mask mandate if occurrences of COVID-19 in the schools increase.

As always, the Red River Parish School Board continues to appreciate all of your patience and commitment in assisting us in keeping our Bulldog Families safe and healthy.
