Riverdale Girls Get Victory Over Riverfield, Boys Fall

On Saturday, January 4, Class 4A Riverfield Academy came to Riverdale to take on the Rebels.  Both the JV boys and girls were missing key players and lost their games.  The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Raiders of Riverfield by a score of 52-31, improving their record to 10-1 on the season. All of the girls saw playing time in the game. Rylee Kate Woodard led the Lady Rebels in scoring with 15 points.  She added 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.  Ronda Black chipped in 10 points, had 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.  Kenley Loftin added 7 points and had a great night on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds.  She also added an assist and had 3 steals.  Jessie Kate Cobb also had 7 points along with 2 rebounds and 1 assist.  Renee Prosperie added 6 points, 2 rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Emma Clemons had 4 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal. Georgia Carlisle added 2 points, and Jadyn King added a free throw to round out the scoring.

The Raiders handed the Rebels their first loss of the season by a score of 60-54.  This dropped their record to 5-1 on the season. Riverdale had trouble getting their shots to fall, and the Raiders took advantage of that.  Parker Almond led the team in scoring with 16 points, including 3 3-pointers.  Parker also had 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.  Ty Jones also scored in double figures with 15 points.  Ty also had 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals.  Caden Long added 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals.  Reagan Huddleston added 6 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist. Denver Williams added 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and a blocked shot.  Paul Messenger had a 3 pointer, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. Noah Wren rounded out the scoring with 2 points and also had 2 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. 

Tuesday night’s games against Franklin were cancelled and rescheduled for Monday, January 25.  The Rebels will be in action at home Wednesday evening with 4 makeup games against Tensas. Tip off for the JV girls’ game is at 4:00, followed by the JV boys, varsity girls, and varsity boys.  On Friday, the teams travel to Tallulah to take on the Trojans. Tip off for JV girls will again be 4:00 followed by 3 more games.
