Red River traveled to Airline High in Bossier City last week for boys and girls basketball games. The Boys were victorious while the girls came up a little bit short.
It was back and forth all game between the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Vikings. Red River was down by 2 points at the end of the first quarter. They lead by one at half and trailed by two at the end of 3 quarters. In the final period Airline stretched the lead to 6 points for a 55 to 49 victory.
Jaedyn French-Solton lead the charge with 25 points. Kaitlyn Antilley contributed 9, Cierra Smith 8 and Jariyah Hamilton 2.
In the boys game, Red River jumped to an early lead and never slowed down. They were 9 points ahead of the Vikings at the end of one quarter. The Dogs stretched the lead to 12 at the half. Airline tried a comeback in the third and outscored the Dogs 16 to 10 to cut the lead to 6 at the end of three quarters. But the never say die Bulldogs turned up the heat and turned down the Vikings attempts at a rally in the final period to pull out a four point victory. Final score was 65 to 61.
On Tuesday, the boys went to West Monroe for JV and varsity games. The varsity girls traveled to Peabody for a single game.
