Red River Parish’s Police Jury may have decided to opt out of the Governor’s revised proclamation for the wearing of masks statewide, but the Town of Coushatta did not.
Tuesday night the Town Council voted to require the Governor’s orders be followed within the city limits.
The vote made the requirements effective immediately. Coushatta Mayor Johnny Cox said, “My concern is I want to see people live. We rolled the Governor’s mandate into a local ordinance.”
The ordinance means that everyone who is out in public must wear a mask. Also all workers in stores have to have a mask on. Also, the ordinance covers social gatherings within the town.
The Journal will have additional details in the Friday edition.
