There is a lot of news this week, so I offer this introduction. There is the Governor’s latest proclamation on the state’s lack of progress toward reopening, and the Governor’s mandate on wearing masks. That is covered in the first article.
We follow up with the Police Jury’s decision to Opt Out Red River Parish from the mask requirement. We’ll hear from the police jury and homeland security office.
The third and fourth articles deal with the question of the benefits of wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. And there are instructions for properly wearing a mask from a public health educator.
Other articles report on the four days that there was a mobile testing site operating in Coushatta, an update of the latest COVID-19 statistics and some inside insight into the numbers not being as high as reported and why.
We’ll tackle the future of high school sports this fall. There is no final decision, but there is some insight into the thinking at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association level.
Enjoy! This issue is jam-packed.
