The annual spring Community Health Fair was a success. Many area residents turned out for health screenings and to get health information. The event was held at the Red River Council on Aging on Front Street last Thursday.
Peggy Young with COA told The Journal, “We had a very good turnout despite construction on Front Street. We had 75 to 100 or so people come by. That was very good.” There was no parking on that side of the street due to construction.
Many area health providers were represented including the MLK Health Center and Pharmacy, Christus Coushatta Health Care, Professional Home Health, Specialty Rehab, and many others. Christus Coushatta provided reduced cost blood work and blood sugar tests. There was information on ambulance services, home health, and medical alerts. And Eletha Seabaugh from Red River Industries brought an assortment of the delicious baked goods they offer.
