In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the filming of “Steel Magnolias” in Natchitoches, the Northwestern State University Press has published a fourth edition of “Steel Magnolias Scrapbook – Memories of Movie Making in a Small Town.” The book by Tom Gresham, Jerry Pierce and Tom Whitehead, was previously printed in 1989, 1999 and 2007.

The National Weather Service says our area is included the “slight risk” area for storms heading into the weekend. A warm front will pass through northwest Louisiana, bringing the chance of some thunderstorm activity. This is predicted to develop late Friday.

Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer two Pick Up Your Brush classes in April.
