Red River Parish’s Students of the Year received more recognition for their academic accomplishments from the Town of Coushatta. Mayor Johnny Cox presented the students with a plaque and introduced them to the council meeting this week.

Cox said, “The council and I wanted to do something to honor our students who have done a great job in pursuit of their education. They have worked real hard and are worthy of a warm handclap.” Cox presented “Mayor’s Award” certificates to 12th grade Student of the Year Adriana Bradley and 8th grade Student of the Year Jeyden Young. The 5th grade Student of the Year, Rafe Suggs was not in town and his award will be given to his family.

Mayor Cox read the proclamation and said, “This means a lot to you having done a great thing such as making Student of the Year. Keep up the good work so that other students can see the work you did and do likewise.”

Earlier this month Bradley, Young and Suggs were presented awards at the Red River Parish School Board meeting. See the February 9th issue of The Journal for that story.
