Recently the Louisiana DARE Officers Association held its 26th annual training conference in Shreveport, LA. Red River Parish DARE Officers Lt. Roger Longino and Lt. Troy Murray were among the nearly 175 DARE Officers from across the state in attendance. Several workshops were offered covering a wide range of issues facing our young people today.

Sheriff Glen Edwards would like to thank Red River Elementary and Riverdale Academy as well as the community in general for supporting our DARE program. A special thanks goes to the Red River Parish Chamber of Commerce and Natchitoches Meat Pies for donating door prizes for the conference. The chamber provided gift certificates for a weekend lodge rental and another for a weekend RV site at Grand Bayou Resort while Natchitoches Meat Pies provided two cases of its signature pies.

DARE lessons are well under way in 5th grade classes at both Riverdale and Red River with graduations scheduled for November and December respectively.
