RRPJ-Arrest Report-17Jun7At approximately 4:18 p.m. on June 1, 2017 Red River Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Catfish Bend Road in reference to a disturbance. The suspect, who was identified as Edward Jones, had been contacted by the Coushatta Police Department earlier in the day at a private residence in Coushatta on a public intoxication complaint. Following the first complaint, a second call was received from the Shell station in Armistead concerning the same suspect. He had left the premises prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

When deputies contacted Jones on the Catfish Bend Road, he exited the residence and approached them aggressively. He was extremely intoxicated and cursed deputies while clinching his fists. Due to his aggressive behavior, deputies immediately attempted to take him into custody. Jones grabbed a deputy’s arm and repeatedly made efforts to resist being handcuffed.

While preparing Jones for transport to the Red River Parish Jail (RRPJ), he kicked a deputy and attempted to spit on them. Jones also made threats toward the deputies after arriving at the jail. He was subsequently placed in a holding cell prior to being booked on five charges.

Edward C. Jones, B/M, age 51 of the 200 block of Catfish Bend Road, Coushatta, LA was charged with two counts of Battery of a Police Officer and one count each of Disturbing the Peace, Resisting a Police Officer with Force or Violence and Public Intimidation.

His total bond was set at $85,360 and he remains incarcerated.
