Mark your calendars. Next Monday night at 6:30 is the Red River Parish School Board’s monthly meeting. And Tuesday at 5:30 the Coushatta Town Council will hold it’s monthly meeting.

School is out but there are plenty of opportunities to learn. The Library is holding reading and other activities for children this summer. Call the Library or look at the signs posted around town to get involved. Or just drop by and look at the interesting displays the Library has to offer.

If you suffered damage to buildings or other property in the recent storms, the parish Office of Emergency Preparedness is collecting damage reports. See the Police Jury story in this issue. Depending upon the total amount of damages, Red River Parish may be eligible for state or federal relief assistance. See the Office of Emergency Facebook page for a link to the report forms.

Yesterday was the 73rd anniversary of the D-Day Invasion on the coast of France. It was the beginning of the end of Nazi Germany. It was also one of the most costly days in terms of human life lost in a single battle. You may want to pause a moment and remember the American soldiers who stormed the beach, many of whom never made it back home.
