Red River Parish Library to Offer Free AI and Internet Safety Workshops

The Red River Parish Library will host two free computer workshops on Tuesday, October 13, offering residents an opportunity to learn more about artificial intelligence and how to protect themselves from online scams.

The first workshop, AI Step 1, will take place from 10 a.m. until noon in the library’s meeting room. Designed for beginners, the session will introduce participants to artificial intelligence and show them how to use it in everyday life.

Topics will include what AI is, how to access it from home, the differences between Google searches and artificial intelligence, and some of the most popular generative AI assistants.

An afternoon workshop beginning at 2 p.m. will focus on internet phishing and online safety. Participants will learn what phishing is, how to recognize suspicious emails, how to determine whether online messages are legitimate, and simple steps they can take to protect their personal information.

Both workshops are free and open to anyone interested in learning more about technology and internet safety. Participants may attend either session or both, depending on their interests.

Refreshments will be served during the workshops.
