EAST POINT – Prairie View Academy football used a quick start and consistent production to top Riverdale 58-6 on Friday.

The Rebels (0-5) trailed 46-6 at halftime and couldn’t dent the scoreboard in the second half.

Riverdale is still adjusting to an undermanned roster that’s been beset by injuries and lack of practice time in the preseason.

Prairie View (4-1) is winners of the last two games and has positioned themselves into one of best MAIS teams in Louisiana.

The Spartans have scored at least 40 points in all five games this season with 58 tying a season-high.

Riverdale hits the road for the next two weeks, starting at Porter’s Chapel Academy before jogging north to Claiborne Academy.

The Rebels are aiming to avoid their second straight winless season with four regular-season games remaining.
