The Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office will offer a free Louisiana Hunter Education Course this fall for those interested in completing the state’s hunter safety training.
The course will be held October 17-18, 2026, at the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office Firing Range, 7605 Highway 371 in Coushatta. Classes will run from 7 a.m. until noon each day.
The course is limited to 37 participants, so those interested in attending are encouraged to register early. Applicants must create an account and preregister through Louisiana Outdoors.
Hunter education courses provide participants with important instruction designed to promote safe and responsible hunting. Training typically covers firearm safety, hunting ethics, wildlife conservation and other skills hunters need before heading into the field.
With Louisiana’s fall hunting seasons approaching, the October course provides a local opportunity for Red River Parish residents to complete their hunter education requirements close to home.
Registration information is available through Louisiana Outdoors.
