As students head back to the classroom, First Methodist Church Coushatta is inviting families to celebrate the new school year with a day of worship, fellowship and fun on Sunday, August 9.

The day will begin during the church’s 10:50 a.m. worship service, where children of all ages are encouraged to bring their school backpacks for a special Backpack Blessing. Church leaders will pray over students, teachers and school staff as they begin another academic year.

The celebration continues at 4 p.m. with the church’s Back-to-School Bash, featuring food, games and a water slide for children and families to enjoy.

The event is open to the community, and everyone is invited to bring their backpacks, invite friends and join in the festivities as the new school year gets underway.
