A Mansfield Police Department officer has been arrested following an investigation by the Louisiana State Police Force Investigation Unit.
According to Louisiana State Police, 58-year-old Curtis Jones of Mansfield was arrested this morning at approximately 10:20 a.m. The investigation began earlier this year after LSP received reports of alleged misconduct involving an officer employed by the City of Mansfield.
Following the investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant through the 42nd Judicial District Court. Jones was charged with malfeasance in office, simple battery, and simple assault. He turned himself in to authorities and was processed at the DeSoto Parish Detention Center.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Interim Mansfield Police Chief Michelle Thomas said the department is cooperating fully with the proper authorities and remains committed to an impartial review of the matter. She added that, because the legal process is ongoing, the department cannot discuss further details at this time.
