Good news for all gardeners out there! On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm, the library will host a presentation by the Louisiana Wild Society entitled REWILDING OUR NEIGHBORHOODS: NATIVE PLANTS AND WHY THEY MATTER URGENTLY.
This is a new program for our library and we hope to make it a regular one.
The website www.louisianawildsociety.com provides more information about our presenter, Ms. Erin Stuab, and about the society itself. On the website, the members of the society state, “ We’re on a mission to provide education, skills and resources for all
living beings to thrive. We pursue habitat formation and seek to nourish rich ecosystems for future generations.” Ms. Staub, the director of the society, says that “her love of plants and the natural world started as a child, and grew when she left college and found that it felt strange to not fully understand how to grow her own food.”
All our local gardeners, as well as all interested in being better stewards of our beautiful world, are encouraged to attend this program. After the presentation, there will be a question and answer period. Please come and bring your family and friends. All are welcome!
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Ms. Elizabeth Martin with the LSU-AG extension office will be at the library to present a program called “ROOTS & RECIPES: Cooking with Herbs and Spices.” The program will begin at 1:00 pm, and is open to all ages.
Ms. Martin can answer all of your questions about the roots in our area that can be used to create healthy and flavorful recipes for the enjoyment of both you and your family.
