Red River’s Mims finishes top half in state cross country meet
Red River sophomore Logan Mims finished in the top half of the Division IV Boys Cross Country Championships this past week at Northwestern State.
Mims clocked a 19:19.6 to place 46th in the 100-runner field.
Mims advanced to the state meet with a 12th-place finish at the regional meet.

Riverdale girls off to 3-2 start
The Riverdale girls basketball team seeks competition wherever they can find it, and this past week they played in the 2025 Emerson Border Battle in Arkansas.

The Lady Rebels fell to two Class 1A Arkansas schools, which play in the Arkansas Athletics Association (Louisiana equivalent of LHSAA).

Riverdale nearly scored a win against Blevins (54-53 loss) and challenged a Taylor squad (69-50 loss) that won 29 games this past season. Point guard Mary Claire Jones was named to the all-tournament team.

It’s the first two losses of the season for Riverdale, who owns victories against Bayou Academy (35-35), Word of God Academy (73-9) and Faith Training Christian Academy (70-21).

Riverdale boys fall in first four contests
The Riverdale boys basketball season is underway as the Rebels have taken the court in two contests in the opening weeks of the season.

The Rebels fell to Word of God Academy (52-32) and Shreveport HomeSchool (73-51).

In the Emerson Border Battle this week, Riverdale lost to Blevins (76-29) and Ouachita (56-15).

Riverdale is in the second season of the coach Ty Jones era.

Red River girls blitz Minden in opener
Red River opened its season Monday with a convincing 49-32 win against Class 4A Minden.

Minden grabbed an early 5-4 edge, but the Lady Bulldogs went on a 20-1 run and maintained the large margin.

The Lady Bulldogs are competing in the Battle of the Hardwood at Parkway High, which started Thursday night with a matchup against Brusly and continues Friday (vs. Airline) and Saturday (vs. Bossier).

Friday’s game against Airline is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. tip with Saturday’s matchup against Bossier a 2 p.m. tip.

Riverdale football places six on all-district team
Six Riverdale football players were named to the all-district team led by first-teamers Ben Moseley and Ashton Almond.

Second-teamers include Tanner Carlisle and Morgan Moseley.

Named to the honorable mention were Remington Dabbs and Ryder Shaver.
