Grand Bayou Resort and John K Kelly-Grand Bayou Reservoir in Coushatta are local treasures. Located at 5286 Highway 784, the resort and lake provide family-oriented activities such as fishing, lodging, RV and tent camping, boating, swimming, and other recreational activities for residents in the local area and beyond. Other activities available are wildlife viewing and bird watching. Eagles and ospreys are especially
fun to watch. The park is the largest and most popular recreational facility in the parish. Your tax dollars help support the resort and these activities.
The well-shaded resort has 8 lodges, 5 small fishing cabins, and 2 bungalows (one bungalow is handicap accessible). All lodging has full kitchens. The boat ramp provides access to the 2600+ acre reservoir for boating, fishing, duck hunting, and water sports such as water skiing and jet skiing. A playground and beach are open all year. In recent years, a New Year’s Eve fireworks display, paid for by private donors and put on by a professional crew, has provided free entertainment for the public.
A large events center is available for seminars, reunions, weddings. There is also a fishing pier, an open-air pavilion for large groups, and a marina. Camping and RV spots, some with full hookups, are ready and waiting to be rented. A laundry is available, along with a dump station for RVs. An outdoor amphitheater can be used for church services or other outdoor meetings. The park is gated with keypad access for guests after hours.
Fishing is excellent. Bass fishing is especially good during the spawn in the spring. Also popular is fishing for white perch, bream, and catfish. The fish population and aquatic vegetation are managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Grand Bayou Resort encourages you to come and bring your family for a great time. See you there.
