Red River’s Hughes piles on more honors
Red River baseball player Tyler Hughes continues to rake in accolades following the most successful season in program history. Hughes was selected as The Shreveport Times All-Area Hitter of the Year and earned a spot on the Class 2A All-State team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. He was selected as an infielder on the Class 2A All-State team after posting a 1.50 ERA with 89 strikeouts in 55.2 innings.
Hughes did serious work at the plate as well, hitting .448 with two home runs and 32 RBIs. He will continue his baseball career at Centenary College in Shreveport.

Riverdale girls basketball excels at LSU team camp
The Riverdale Academy girls basketball team compiled a 3-0 mark at the LSU team camp earlier this week.
The Lady Rebels rubbed elbows with LSU coach Kim Mulkey and some of the best teams from around the state. Riverdale is coming off a 24-5 record and a Class 2A South Region title, just missing out on a spot in the overall MAIS state tournament.

Red River announces volleyball team
Red River High has announced its volleyball team following multiple days of intense tryouts. Congratulations to A’nyah Ashton, Javia Ashton, Gabi Bounds, Adrianna Bradford, Lauryn Bradley, Demieyah Brown, Ke’asha Clark, Kaleah Crawford, Ava Dickey, Kinya Gray, Caitlyn Jones, Denelle Mitchell, Emily Morgan, Laynie Morse, Makilah Murphy, Ashlee Procell, Skylar Roberson, Wy’breshia Smith, Addy Steinert, Bri’aunna Taylor, Madilynn Vangundy, Hope Williamson, and Anyla Young.
Managers are Addison Bounds and Shelby Pickett.

Powerlifting state championships move to Kenner
Only one LHSAA state championship event will move locations for the two-year cycle beginning in 2024-25. Powerlifting, which has been hosted in UL Lafayette’s Cajundome, will move to Kenner and the Pontchartrain Center. The other 16 LHSAA-sanctioned championship events will remain in their current locations, which includes wrestling taking place in Bossier City’s Brookshire Grocery Arena.
