Summer is here, and each year, crime increases as the temperature rises. According to Officer LaCaze of the Coushatta Police, the force is proactively preparing for the season’s stresses.
“We are increasing our force and the number of officers on patrol each shift,” reports LaCaze. “Our goal is to be in the neighborhoods and show our support for citizens.”
Last week, the department’s Facebook page posted about a problem with juveniles fighting in Red River Estates. The post highlighted that the department would issue warnings and citations to parents and guardians who are found to be transporting juveniles to fight at designated locations. Officer LaCaze outlined the process for handling the issue. He said that they investigate all reported incidences. Parents are asked to accompany juveniles when they are identified and brought in for questioning. Some are issued citations along with their children.
“Using our resources and becoming familiar with all the town residents will help us join forces to maintain a safe town for everyone.”
