Thursday, December 14, the students at Red River Academic Academy were treated with stories of the season. Two of the story readers were Marvin Leleux and Norma Lester. They delivered renditions of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and A Cajun Night Before Christmas.
Lester was the first to recite the traditional poem. She expounded on unfamiliar words like kerchief and clatter. The students loved the exuberance of their reader.
Up next, was Leleux. He is a Cajun and discussed the heritage of his family and the links to the language. He taught the students words like Tante, and skiff. He also had them look at pictures of the alligators flying. Mr. Leleux’s wife is a teacher at Red River Elementary.
The school would like to thank Mrs. Celia Norman for organizing the readers and working with the school in so many ways.
