Restoration Center brings smiles to the Parish

The Red River Restoration Center held their 4th annual Christmas Give Away on December 16. This event organized by Tangela Maxwell was open to all the parish. Mrs. Maxwell said that she wants to bring joy to all the children in our area. “We need to give back to the people of our community and this is our way to do that.” This year this event gave away 120 gifts and served 150 for Christmas Lunch.

Each child was offered free hair cuts by Jackson Cuts, manicures by Joy, puppet show by Jayda Williams, and Christmas songs by Zander Smith. Everyone enjoyed a Christmas lunch. Smiles on all the children’s faces showed their joy as presents were distributed. The group was even prepared for extra children who might not have been on their lists. Extra presents were available. Names of families in need were given to the organizers and help for these families is forthcoming.

The event is partnered with: Chesapeake Energy, International Paper, Evolve Family Services, and the Salvation Army.

To begin the day’s events, Chesapeake presented the Restoration Center with a Check for $10,000. This generous donation will do much to bring joy this season.
