Again this year the, Council on aging is joining the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling of the Elderly (TCE) programs.  The programs are administered by the IRS but are staffed by trained volunteers.  The VITA program has been helping taxpayers for over 50 years.

The VITA program is for people making $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and/or limited English speaking taxpayers.

VITA/TCE is not only free, it is also a reliable and trusted source of tax preparation assistance.  And the IRS requires that each return be checked for accuracy before it is filed.
