March 12, 2023 the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office lost a dedicated part of our family who faithfully served the people of Red River Parish for the past thirty-six years.
Over that time, Captain Joey Wiggins served in various roles from patrol, to investigations, to DARE officer, to his most recent role as warden. In whatever area he was assigned, he always went above and beyond the call of duty. He served under sheriffs Buddy Huckabay, Johnny Ray Norman, and Glen Edwards.
His sudden and unexpected passing will leave a void in our department and a hole in our hearts!
Sheriff Edwards and the RRPSO family extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to the Wiggins family. He will be greatly missed!
We also ask and thank you in advance for your prayers for the Wiggins family and our department during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements will be made later this week and will be shared on our Facebook page when they become available.
Pictured with Captain Wiggins are two of his sons, Kody (right) and Jeremy (left) who both work in law enforcement. Kody is the Communications Supervisor at our sheriff’s office (Red River Parish) and Jeremy is a School Resource/DARE Officer for Webster Parish under current Sheriff Jason Parker.
