On Friday, November 4, the Riverdale Rebels traveled back to Woodville, MS, for a rematch with WCCA, who beat them in the regular season. This time, though, the Rebels were on a mission-revenge-and they got it. The final score of the game was 64-46 in favor of the Rebels. It was a great spectator’s game as the teams traded touchdowns for most of the first half. Then the Rebels stepped up and put it away.
Offensively the Rebels had an outstanding game with a total of 653 yards and 9 touchdowns. Ryder Huddleston was 3 for 10 in passing for a total of 104 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ben Almond had 2 catches for 58 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Landen Barrett had a catch for 46 yards. 549 of their yards came on the ground. “Killa Kyle” Guillory lived up to his name with 15 carries for 197 yards and a touchdown. Ryder Huddleston had 19 carries for 137 yards and a touchdown. Ben Almond had 11 carries for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. Barrett had 5 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown, and Kaidyn Williams had 2 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown.
The defense played their hearts out against a solid WCCA offense. Hayden Hillman had 4 tackles, 5 assists, a TFL, and a sack, while Barrett had 2 tackles and an assist. Guillory had 6 tackles, 2 assists, and recovered a fumble, and Aston Hester had 5 tackles. Ashton Almond had 3 tackles, an assist, and broke up a pass, while Tyler Parker had an assist. Williams had 5 tackles, an assist, a TFL, and broke up a pass. Huddleston had 5 tackles and 2 assists, and Ben Almond had 3 tackles and broke up a pass. Jace Wilhite had 2 tackles, an assist, a PBU, and an interception. James Wagoner had a tackle, an assist, a PBU, and an interception.
The Rebels will travel to Marianna, Arkansas this Friday for a semifinal matchup against #1 seed Lee Academy. School will be dismissed Friday so that anyone who wants to go will have time to travel to the game. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
The other semi-final game pits DeSoto School vs Tensas Academy. Riverdale defeated Tensas Academy on September 16th by a score of 14 to 12. The winner of both games advance to the championship on Friday, November 18th at 11:00 am.
