Coushatta, Louisiana (formerly known as Coushatta Chute) has always had a special place in our hearts! This is the town that our dad’s family is from.
Over the years while researching at the Northwest Louisiana Archives at LSUS, we’ve found old photos of it from different years and thought we would share them! We’re also adding a few photos from our personal collection as well.
Since our dad, Bobby Ray Mangham, played basketball for CHS (now Red River High), we thought we would include a few pictures from his yearbook.
The town was originally located on the banks of the Red River. In 1874 and 1918, Coushatta Chute suffered devastating fires that destroyed a lot of the town. With the arrival of the railroad, it moved east to its present site.
We visited recently and got the drone up for a few photos of what it looks like now. Help us identify these people and share your memories! This edition of the Journal features a few of their photos of Coushatta and surrounding area. See them all at the Twin Blends Photography Facebook page.
