From Martin To The Far North

By Jeff Johnson

There are moves, and then there are moves! I began my radio career in Natchitoches, Louisiana in February of 1996 at Cane River Communications, which ultimately became Elite Broadcasting. During my time at 94.9 the River, 1450 KNOC, and 106.5 the Fox, I made some lifelong friends. But that was just the beginning.

Ultimately, I would end up as the Program Director, and morning show host at WRQQ in Baton Rouge.  At this time, for a kid from Martin, I thought THIS was a big move.

After almost two decades in the Red Stick, a new opportunity presented itself. This time, the Great White North came calling in the form of a job offer from Midwest Communications based in Wisconsin! Now, THIS is a move.

So now the boy from Red River Parish is trading cowboy boots for snowshoes, as our family is moving to Appleton, Wisconsin. From front street to the frozen tundra, I will keep you all posted on our “fish out of water” adventures! While I will soon be a Wisconsinite, my heart will always be in Louisiana.

Now, my only question, do you think they know how to make a roux?
