District 22 Representative Gabe Firment supported a House bill to protect women’s sports. Firment said, “I was proud to cast my vote to protect women’s sports by prohibiting biological males from competing against our daughters and granddaughters. Thanks to Sen. Mizell for sponsoring this legislation, and congratulations to new state rep, Laurie Schlegel, for her passionate presentation on the House floor.”
Louisiana Family Forum reported that the Louisiana House approved a bill that protects women’s sports from intrusion by biological men, preserving their Title IX rights and athletic opportunities. The bipartisan vote was 78-17, the measure passed the state Senate by a vote of 29-6. Many members applauded the final passage! To their credit, many Democrats supported this bill.
Family Forum said, “If this is a “solution in search of a problem,” or “who gets to determine what is a boy and who is a girl?” as some vocal opponents complained, Laurie Schlegel’s answer was priceless…”science does!” Media Alert: this bill provides no prohibition on trans sports – it just prevents category migration!”
