Christus Coushatta Gets Significant Grant

Nearly $400,000 Awarded to CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System to Support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Services.  Of that, Christus Coushatta gets $100,000.

During its recent Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) grant event, CHRISTUS Foundation Shreveport-Bossier announced the award of nearly $400,000 to CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System to provide support throughout its facilities for pediatric-focused care. Donations to CMNH programs locally made the grants possible.

The CHRISTUS Coushatta Radiology department received the most significant gift: $100,000 to purchase a new ultrasound unit with pediatric probes to assist in diagnosing and caring for the youngest patients.

The grant awards range in amounts from $1,300 to $100,000. 18 departments across the system benefit from this year’s funds including: CHRISTUS Coushatta Health Care Center: Dental Clinic, Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical, and Radiology.  3 Surgical, The Birth Place, Bossier Emergency Hospital, Cara Center, Clinical Education, Highland Emergency Department, Inpatient Rehab, Kids Clinic, Laboratory, NICU, Outpatient Neuro Therapy, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, and Swim.

CHRISTUS Kids Clinic received the largest gift in Shreveport-Bossier: $92,000 for the purchase of therapeutic equipment including a Trexo Robotic Exoskeleton, making CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier one of only six hospitals nationwide to have this cutting- edge equipment.

With these generous Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals funds, we are able to purchase equipment to greatly enhance our ability to serve our community’s pediatric patients,” said Steen Trawick, M.D., Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer, CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System.
